Greetings from a chilly but beautiful Green Cove!
|
 |
Well things are finally getting settled here in Green Cove Office Land. Most of you probably know that Frances Clayton has moved on. She spent a good part of late fall traveling around Mexico and was wearing skirts and tank tops while the rest of us bundled up! I, Sophie (Ruppert) Felts, moved down here with my husband Mike and dog Boomer last month and have been trying to pick up where Frances left off ever since! We are all so excited to be here although, the Tuxedo I remembered from being a counselor here in ’01, ’02 and ’03 looks totally different from the winter-time-Tuxedo that we are living in now. Everyone here is desperately waiting for you all to come back and liven this place up! |

| Another new face for you to look for this summer is Debbie; she’s the new Green Cove secretary. Debbie and her puppy Rosie are doing a fabulous job of keeping us all on our toes! (Rosie, Boomer and Gus are already good friends and we love to watch them play!) |

We have started our travels and so far we have gotten to hang out with Green Cove girls in Birmingham, AL, Washington, DC, Lexington and Louisville, KY, Greenville and Charleston, SC, Cincinnati, OH, Nashville, TN, Austin, Dallas, Houston and The Woodlands, TX, Arlington and Richmond, VA! We are breaking for Christmas time but will be back on the road by January 6th. To find out when we are coming to your town, check out the travel schedule on our website.Debbie, Nancy, Kathy, Lee, the Maintenance crew and I have already started getting things ready for you all to come back this summer. You may notice something different on Junior line; we are painting the walls a beautiful baby blue! Those of you on Middler Line last year may remember our little flying friends but work is being done on the line to keep the place bat-proof for this summer! Finally, we had a bit of excitement last week when Taj at Mondamin was ripped down to make room for the brand new version that will be built in its place! |

Main Campers from last year probably remember the song that Katie LaRue and Lisa Courtney wrote. Well, this fall, Katie took it to the recording studio and we got a copy of it hot off the press! Click the link to hear the new Green Cove Song. If you would like a copy for yourself, you can e-mail Katie at katielarue@rustylarue.com
Also hot off the press is the recently updated camp DVD! You can now see a whole slide show of fun pics from last summer. The new DVD was mailed just after Christmas, so be checking your mailboxes! |

…and now people updates…
Mike and I ran into Liddell Shannon last weekend up by Oties Knob. She and Erin McManus stopped by to spend a beautiful day hiking at Green Cove! Liddell is teaching 6th graders at the Cherokee Reservation during the school year and is planning to be back for Early June Camp this summer! Speaking of teachers, Shea D’Anna is also teaching and we have our fingers crossed that we will see her for part of the summer too! We just got an email from Britta Wiesner who is doing great but missing the mountains of North Carolina and is also planning on being back in June (yea!). Mary Demere loves her first year of college at UGA and we can’t wait to have her back as a counselor. Mary Charles Anderson is at Colgate for college and is working hard to recruit some great counselors! It looks like she is especially working hard on Maggie Rusch (not to be confused with Maggie Ruch who will be a CT this year!), Stephanie Cohan and Mary Reid Munford who we heard from last month! Hannah Justice was at the Green Cove Christmas party and was able to hang out with Karley Walker who will be a three week camper this summer. Ashley Christensen is living in Salt Lake City and loving it out there while Natalie Udwin and Ryan Moss are livin’ it up in Asheville, NC. Natalie is actually working in an Asian art shop! Charlotte Ruppert had a blast when she went up to visit Katie Milam who is going to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City! Speaking of New York City, Alston Frazier is living a fabulous life in the big city while working in fashion! Maggie Klag is getting married this year and rumor has it, so is McCall Manning! We got an awesome paper about Green Cove that Sarah Wessel wrote for a school project and we loved hanging out with her in Louisville. I bumped into Mary Margaret Burdette the other day while she was working at the Wrinkled Egg in Flat Rock. Mary Margaret is applying to colleges and having articles in the local paper written about her left and right! Betsy Boehm just finished running her first marathon and we may actually see her back this August! Jessica Grisel is living in Richmond and they are lucky to have her working as an EMT. Grace and Olivia Long stopped by the office last week. It was fun to see them and they are looking forward to a great summer at Green Cove!
We are dying to hear from you! Send us an email with your recent adventures, trips or just updates. We would love to see pictures too! greencove@greencove.com
We hope that you are all having an exciting year and we look forward to hearing from you soon! |
